No one has yet fully realised the wealth of sympathy, kindness and generosity hidden in the soul of a child. The effort of every true education should be to unlock that treasure. – Emma Goldman, Author

Our Children’s Centre is a purpose-built, state of the art child care facility. We offer a warm homely setting, with a secure enclosed outdoor facility for extended play and learning. This allows us to provide support and childcare for children aged from 6 months to 12 years.

081Listowel Family Resource Children’s Centre aims for the highest quality of childcare that provides a warm, safe and secure environment where each child is supported in their development. We work with parents/caregivers and value our parents as partners in the Children’s Centre. We promote the holistic development of children. We appreciate each child is unique and endeavour to help each child reach their full potential.

Family Support/Holistic Approach
Here in Listowel Family Resource Children’s Centre we believe that quality early childhood care and education must value and support the role of parents. Open, honest and respectful partnership with parents is essential in promoting the best interests of the child. Mutual partnership contributes to establishing harmony and continuity between the diverse environments the child experiences in the early years. The development of connections and interactions between the early childhood setting, parents, the extended family and the wider community also adds to the enrichment of early childhood experiences by reflecting the environment in which the child lives and grows.

Children need the freedom and time to play. Play is not a luxury. Play is a necessity. – Kay Redfield Jamison

We operate according to the National Síolta Quality Standard and the Aistear Framework.

Síolta is designed to define, assess and support the improvement of quality across all aspects of practice in early childhood care and education settings where children aged birth to six years are present.

Aistear is the new curriculum framework for children from birth to six years in Ireland. It gives information to help plan for and provide enjoyable and challenging learning experiences so that all children can grow and develop as competent and confident learners.
Aistear uses four themes to outline children’s learning and development. These themes connect and overlap with each other:

  • Well-being
  • Identity and Belonging
  • Communicating
  • Exploring and Thinking
